Overview
Mimo is a graduation concept project exploring how elements of traditional therapy can be translated into a thoughtful digital experience, creating a safe space for people who struggle to seek emotional support.
Where it all started?
The project began with a simple question: how can digital products make emotional support feel more approachable?
Research with psychologists and patients explored why online therapy has become increasingly important and how elements of in-person therapy can be meaningfully translated into a digital experience.
These conversations revealed not only practical needs, but also the importance of trust, reflection, and creating a space where users feel comfortable engaging with their emotions.
What changed?
The insights from the research shaped both the structure and the visual language of the app. Features such as mood tracking, online therapy, educational content, and therapy progress were designed to support users throughout different stages of their mental health journey.
One of the project's defining elements became the Mimos—a collection of emotion icons inspired by the emotion wheel commonly used in therapy. Together with a calm visual identity, they help users recognise, express, and better understand their emotions while creating a more memorable product experience.
The outcome
Rather than replacing traditional therapy, Mimo explores how digital products can complement it.
The result is a concept that encourages self-awareness, supports everyday emotional wellbeing, and makes the first step towards seeking help feel a little less intimidating.
